On Twitter, JK Rowling is receiving death threats.
The author of the Harry Potter series tweeted in defense of Salman Rushdie after his assault.
An Islamic extremist stabbed Salman Rushdie numerous times when he was giving a speech in New York State. His controversial book, The Satanic Verses, had earned him a fatwa or religious bounty on his head 33 years prior from the Iranian authorities.
One Twitter account reacted after Rowling tweeted her support by saying, "Don't worry, you are next."
Messages supporting the terrorists who attacked Rushdie were also posted on the same Twitter account.
What has happened to this world? It appears that when outlets for free speech expand, threats also do.
Recall the recent murder of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe by a religious extremist.
Threats to prominent persons are increasing as political radicalism spreads.
