as posted by the channelSo, there are currently widespread demonstrations all over Iran right now by pro-democracy protesters trying to overthrow the brutal, theocratic regime in Iran. The catalyst for these protests was the death of a 22-year-old girl named Mahsa Amini, who was murdered by the regime while in custody for the crime of not properly wearing a hijab. Mahsa's story is not unique, however. this is how the medieval Islamist Iranian regime routinely operates.
Throughout the last few years, the Iranian government has murdered tens of thousands of protesters and peaceful political activists, many of whom were just in their 20s. But it's not just the Iranian people who suffer from this. The regime funds terrorist groups around the world that kill innocent civilians. It's also responsible for maiming and killing most of our American soldiers who are hit by roadside bombs in Afghanistan and Iraq. So, this savage regime is a threat to the whole world.
But we now have an incredible opportunity to assist the Iranian people without placing soldiers on the ground or spending billions of dollars in the process. One of the things America could, and should do right now, is ratchet-up sanctions against the killers who run this regime. Currently, there are no sanctions against even the Iranian president, who is such a monster that before coming to office, he was dubbed, quote, "The Butcher of Tehran" because of the number of peaceful activists he executed.
But instead of standing up to the mullahs of Iran, President Biden is negotiating with them and offering to ease sanctions on the nation if they agree to sign a new nuclear agreement. And this is just absolutely insane. Iran's leaders have violated the previous nuclear agreement they signed with Obama and used the billions of dollars they received from that deal to enrich themselves and fund more terrorist operations across the globe.
Unlike the brutal terrorist regime that rules the country, the Iranian people want to be our friends. They want the liberties and freedoms we enjoy here in the United States.
