For many people, Thanksgiving results in overindulging and gaining unwanted weight, but it doesn't have to! You can still have fun, eat good food and keep your waistline the same through the holidays. I have some simple tips you can follow to enjoy Thanksgiving and stay healthy and fit.

1. Get Active Outside - First thing Thanksgiving morning, go outside and get active for 20 minutes. If you can't get outside, do a 20-minute burst workout.

2. Be Active with Family -- Play a game like football or go for a jog or 5k with your family. It will get everyone moving and it can be a great tradition year after year.

3. Eat More Protein -- Turkey is full of tryptophan and other amino acids that support your immune system and help improve your mood. Go easy on the stuffing and gravy and load up on healthy veggies.

4. Monitor Your Meals- Some pumpkin pie is fine. A little cranberry sauce is OK. But stick to just one serving of each.

5. Have a Healthy Breakfast- Starting your day with a superfood smoothie will help keep you from overindulging during the day and will help keep the weight off. I recommend combining a good quality protein powder, coconut milk and 1/2 cup of berries.

I hope you and your family have a happy Thanksgiving!
