12:30Now PlayingChances are you've heard this catch phrase repeated ad nauseam by friends, pastors, and maybe yourself. Perhaps you're even quite a big fan of it. In today's video I want to explore why the saying "Christianity is a Relationship Not a Religion" is actually not true/helpful and where it falls short. Far from condemning people who use this (trust me I have said it many times) I want to challenge you to think critically about it and see where it falls short. It's absolutely true that we as Christians have a relationship with God, in fact all of us have SOME type of relationship with God, but to say that this relationship is inherently opposed to religion is simply misguided. Additionally, this phrase can lead us to become too casual in our relationship with God, treating God like a friend or an equal, rather than recognizing God as Lord. I hope this video challenges you and helps you as you continue your journey of following Jesus.
About me:
Hey! My name is Austin, and I'm a 21 year old guy with a passion for people. I believe the good news is that God is better than we could've ever hoped, and I love sharing this message of grace and love with anyone that will listen. I'm the former Digital Marketing and Video Production Coordinator at a large, evangelical church in Frederick, MD, and I'm currently a student at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. When I'm not writing papers or making YouTube videos, I do freelance work as a Wedding Photographer/Videographer and social media consultant.
