8:05Now PlayingHere's the thing, you're facing R-rated problems and you're responding with PG-rated prayers. Your problems are real, yet your prayers are just, well, a little too nice. If you're being honest, your prayers are far from honest. Sound familiar? Maybe you can relate, maybe you can't, but my goal with this video is that by introducing you to the rich genre of lament psalms you could realize that it's ok to express your frustrations to God, to be angry with God and let him know. When life gets hard, we need to run to God in prayer with raw honesty, rather than simply praying empty prayers that our hearts aren't really in or simply ignoring God altogether. Again, I want to be sure you hear me that I'm not saying we should be irreverent, but I am saying God invites us to be honest with him and express our pain, our doubts, and our frustration.
