36:10Now PlayingThe Senate unanimously passed a bill Thursday, March 24, which would provide a tax break to businesses that pay into the Unemployment Insurance Fund, which is carrying a surplus of $1.6 billion dollars. Though this bill has bi-partisan support, it had become mired in a skirmish between the House and Senate over linkage to an extension of unemployment benefits for Iron Range workers. The Senate passed Iron Range relief on March 10. Assuming both bills pass the House, Governor Dayton has indicated that he will sign them into law.
