42:49Now PlayingON a 63 to 2 vote, the Minnesota Senate took a step forward in eventually complying with the federal REAL ID standards, which will allow Minnesotans in the future to board airplanes using their drivers licenses as federally-recognized sources of identification.
The bill, SF 1646, sponsored by Senator Scott Dibble, DFL-Mpls., lifts the ban prohibiting the Dept. of Public Safety from planning on REAL ID implementation. However, the bill specifies that the department cannot implement the requirements without legislative approval.
