The unfortunate incident occurred near the Jawaharlal Nehru Marg at Bihar's capital at night. An ex gratia compensation of Rs.4 lakh each has been announced by the state government for the families of the deceased children. Locals rushed to the spot in a bid to rescue the kids by lifting the crane. The driver of the crane was severely thrashed by the crowd for his alleged oversight while operating the vehicle. The police intervened with a reinforcement team, and investigation for negligence is now underway.
