Donald Trump escalated his fight with the Smithsonian by ordering warning signs outside the National Museum of American History.
The signs would tell visitors that the museum presents inaccurate history and suggest that American history is presented better elsewhere, even though the administration did not explain where visitors should go instead.
Roland Martin mocked the order as an attack on truthful exhibits about slavery, Native American land, Nat Turner, the Haitian Revolution and Black resistance. He said Trump is ignorant of history but still wants to wage war against historians.
The absolutely ludicrous order exposes white fragility and a propaganda campaign against any version of American history that acknowledges racism, exploitation and the country’s historical wrongdoing.
