7:11Now PlayingDoes the New York Times have the worst op-ed page? At least with the Wall Street Journal, or the Washington Post, you basically know what you’re going to get. At this point, it seems like the Times op-ed section is geared only towards generating hate clicks and browbeating the left, but maybe this has always been the case.
Pamela Paul is a recently added op-ed writer to the NYT’s catalog of “Deep Thinkers.” In her recent piece, entitled “The Far Right and Far Left Agree on One Thing: Women Don’t Count” she argues that Republicans who are stripping fundamental rights away from people with uteruses are equivalent to folks on the left who want more inclusive language to be used when talking about abortion rights and the existence of trans people. In her article, Paul argues that there is a “misogynist agenda” that is what is really behind the push for more inclusive language and that those who are advocating for trans folks are “reducing women to a mix of body parts and gender stereotypes.”
This feeble attempt to ‘both sides’ the ongoing war against bodily autonomy equates people who are literally stripping our rights away with those who want to see language suit the reality that not all abortion seekers are women. In the end, to give both players the same weight is to carry water for the right. If Paul wants to discuss the “trans question” maybe she should start a substack like the rest of the freaks obsessed with attacking trans people.
