13:19Now PlayingWho won The Margaret Thatcher Award this week? Which woman who has used the advances of the feminist movement only to throw it under the bus. (Guess that’s real equality, huh?) We took a moment to spotlight a few of the women who’ve broken the glass ceiling, and used the shards to stab the rest of us in the back. In the running this week were Kyrsten Sinema, the Senate Democrat from Arizona, Tudor Dixon, the Republican nominee for Governor of Michigan, and Giorgia Meloni, the newly elected fascist Prime Minister of Italy.
At an event at the McConnell Center at the University of Kentucky (named for… you guessed it) Senator Kyrsten Sinema, D-Arizona, gave a forceful defense of bipartisanship. She said that you as a lawmaker must not give in to “intense pressure” you may face from the radicals. She went on to defend the filibuster, and even called to strengthen it. While Rome burns, Sinema demands that the firefighters focus more on team building exercises.
Elsewhere, Republican candidate for Michigan Governor, Tudor Dixon, mocked current Democratic Governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, for almost being kidnapped and assassinated. Hilarious bit. The delivery is even more delicious.
Finally, in Italy, party-leader Giorgia Meloni has risen to power with unmistakably facist overtones. She and her Brothers of Italy are promising a normalization of extreme xenophobia and authoritarian politics, laying the groundwork for another illiberal democracy like the one in Hungary. Will she succeed?
