8:40Now PlayingAre you following the Try Guys drama? What do you think of it? This past week, the internet has been awash in rampant speculation and then a full blow schism within one of YouTube’s major influencers: The Try Guys.
After rampant speculation for a few days on the Try Guys’ subreddit, fan twitter and other forums, it was revealed that dedicated wife guy Ned had been carrying out an affair with another one of the show’s cast (who was also in a committed relationship). The revelation of this caused an irreparable split between Ned and the three other Try Guys, who booted him from the company as numerous corporate partners/sponsors began to pull back their investments in the group.
In response, the group released an apparently unedited video addressing the situation and expressing their frustration as publicly and legally as they could. The Try Guys originally came from Buzzfeed, until they broke off to work as an independent venture in 2014. Lots of Buzzfeed people who worked with or alongside the group had plenty to say on Twitter, and this whole affair has unfolded in an incredibly online way.
