Woman KILLED Over Displaying A Pride Flag At Her Business

Is California really a progressive state? In one hateful incident last week, the myth that the state is a liberal bastion where people are accepting and tolerant was busted. A gunman shot and killed Lake Arrowhead businessowner Laura Ann “Lauri” Carleton outside of her place of work over displaying a pride flag.

Lauri, a mother of nine, was a fierce ally of the LGBT+ community and hung a pride flag outside her business despit the multiple threats. In fact, she hung an even bigger flag in response. “Lauri was a pillar in our community, an immovable force in her values for equality, love, and justice," said a friend.

The killer was a 27-year-old named Travis Ikeguchi who had previously harassed Carleton, and who had a history of posting homophobic, antisemitic, anti-vax, and other conspiracy theories online. GLAAD and the Anti-Defamation League have tracked more than 350 anti-LGBTQ+ attacks across the country this year.

“LGBTQ+ Americans are living in a state of emergency. The multiplying threats facing millions in our community are not just perceived – they are real, tangible and dangerous,” said the Human Rights Campaign who has declared a national state of emergency in the country for the LGBT community.
