Francesca and her guest Wajahat Ali talk about the model minority stereotype and how Vivek’s bootstraps ethos plays into what white voters want. Vivek is undoubtedly an outlier: he’s brown, young, and Hindu… yet ha white nationalist talking points. In converse to the America in decline language of other GOP candidates, Vivek esposes ideas of revolution, saying we’ve reached “1776 moment” in this country. “Do we stand on the side of reform?” he asked. “Or do we stand on the side of revolution?”
Polling-wise he’s surpassesing career politicians like Mike Pence, fellow Indian-American Nikki Haley, and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Following the debate Donald Trump, who Ramaswamy has called “the best president of the 21st century,” deemed him the winner. Ramaswamy following Trump’s lead that you don’t need political experience to run for president, just lots of money and lots of hate. How do you think it will it turn out?
