UNREAL: Israeli TV Welcomes Soldier Accused of Torture

If you think American TV news is bad, probably stay away from Israeli television. In the middle of a genocide, it’s gotten quite propagandistic. After a video was released by Israeli media showing a group of soldiers assaulting a Palestinian prisoner while shielding their own identity from the camera, Israelis have come out to shield the soldiers from accountability. Hundreds even storming the facilities where Palestinians have been routinely mistreated.

But this was a new low. In August, one of the accused torturers appeared on a news talk show to defend his actions in front of a live and very warm audience. The audience applauded him as he scolded the hosts of the show for ever judging the abusive actions of he and his fellow soldiers.

The mass torture and sexual assault in Israeli detention facilities has now been well documented by The New York Times among many other outlets. But inside Israeli society, somehow this cruelty is seen as a virtue. Even when the Palestinians who are held are ambulance drivers, teachers, and disabled. They aren't Hamas militants, they simply got swept up.

But the celebration of such atrocities is truly the byproduct of a culture of supremacy, domination, and genocide.
