A new Brookings study says the raids did the exact opposite — costing the U.S. economy more than 668,000 jobs, hitting both immigrant and U.S.-born workers. That's roughly 30 jobs destroyed for every single ICE arrest. Construction, hospitality, and food service got gutted first, and the American project managers, electricians, and building inspectors who depend on those crews lost their work right along with them.
Between 51,000 and 297,000 of the destroyed jobs belonged to U.S.-born workers.
