5:38Now PlayingJohn Fetterman raised his first Senate campaign on small-dollar donors — regular people sending $20 and $50 because they believed in the guy in the hoodie. In his first three months in office, those small donors sent him nearly $646,000, more than 80% of everything he raised.
In his most recent quarter, they sent him $21,000.That collapse tracks his public breaks with the Democratic base: his defense of Israel's military campaign, his vote against requiring congressional approval for hostilities with Iran, and his willingness to confirm several of Trump's cabinet nominees.
The quarter he signaled support for those nominees, his small-dollar money fell from $643,000 to under $131,000 in a single three-month span.
A new Quinnipiac poll finds 69% of Pennsylvania Democrats disapprove of Fetterman while 77% of Republicans approve — and 57% of Democrats say he should leave the party. His response? He's threatening to do exactly that.
Small-dollar money isn't a bank. It's a belief. And the people who built him just cast their vote in the only currency a campaign actually feels.
