Drunk 19-Year-Old Girl Tries (and FAILS) to Flee From Cops

On August 22, 2025, at approximately 12:59 AM, Commander Ruben Harris and Officer Breauna Carpenter with the Pullman Police Department were on marked patrol in the alley north of the 500 block of NE Colorado Street, between NE Opal Street and NE Ruby Street. Officer Carpenter noticed that a female was holding an open container of what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage. She was standing with a group of other females as one of her friends was relieving herself behind a dumpster. Both officers exited the patrol car and made contact with them.

The female tried hiding the can from Commander Harris, but she failed to do so. Commander Harris asked her how old she was, and she lied that she was 21. When she was told that she could get arrested for lying to a law enforcement officer, she admitted to being 19. Since she had been caught with an open container outdoors, the officers detained her by placing her in handcuffs. Commander Harris retrieved an open container of Bud Light seltzer as Officer Carpenter attempted to gather more information from the female.

Since the female did not have her identification with her, she was instructed to sit down and provide the officers with her name and other pedigree information. Instead of just providing her information, she slipped her cuffs and attempted to run away from the officers. At that time, she was immediately placed under arrest.

Officer Holden Humphrey arrived on scene and assisted with placing the handcuffs back on the female, and Sergeant Nathan Padrta placed her inside his patrol car for transport. While Sergeant Padrta was transporting her to the Pullman Police Department, she initially refused to provide her name. Sergeant Padrta then told her that if she failed to identify herself, she would be booked into the Whitman County Jail and held there until they could identify her.

After they arrived at the station, Sergeant Padrta escorted her into the processing room and instructed her to have a seat on the brown chair. The female then identified herself as 19-year-old Murray Broemeling. She provided Sergeant Padrta with her address, phone number, and other pedigree information. Once they had her information, Murray was placed inside a holding cell.

Murray was later fingerprinted and photographed by another officer after spending some time inside a cell. She was charged with Minor in Possession (RCW 66.44.270.3A), False Statement to Public Servant (RCW 9A.76.175), and Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer (RCW 9A.76.020). After she was advised of her charges, Murray was released pending her court appearance.
