US North Korea Dialogue - Kim Jong Un Announcement
Last week, North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un said last week that his country should prepare for both dialogue and confrontation with the United States, but particularly confrontation. This week, the US envoy for North Korea was in South Korea to talk about re-starting talks, and looks forward to a “positive response” on the potential for dialogue for North Korea. The US national security advisor said that the statement made by Kim Jong Un was an “interesting signal”. That all being said, Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, had her own words to say on the situation. What does a potential US North Korea Dialogue mean for the future relations of the two countries?
US And Afghan Presidents Meet - Afghan Government Expected To Fall
Joe Biden and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani are meeting in Washington DC as things are not looking good for the Afghan government. The US intelligence community has just concluded that Afghanistan’s government could collapse as soon as six months after US troops are withdrawn from the country, with some saying as soon as 3 months. What do you think is next for the Afghan government after the US troops are withdrawn?
Economic Sanctions Against Belarus And Alexander Lukashenko
The US and EU are expanding strong economic sanctions against Belarus. These sanctions come down right after Belarus forced down an airplane in order to arrest dissident journalist Roman Protasevich, and the sanctions are to stop the leader of Belarus’, Alexander Lukashenko, repressive behavior, and get him to make democratic reforms.
What are sanctions? Sanctions prohibit people from doing business with a stated target and they also often freeze any assets that target may have. So the idea is that by making business in general harder for that target, you made it difficult for them to fund and pursuit their criminal behavior.
