Will some of our favorite classic video games be able to compete in today's market? The average price of a video game is around $60.
And if it isn't Super Mario, Call of Duty, or one of the other well-known huge brands. It's difficult to part with so much money, but video games have become increasingly free to play with in-game purchases over the previous decade. Epic Games, Activision Blizzard, and Riot Games have all capitalized on these trends.
If the game is free to play, gamers can try out a game they've never tried before without taking any risks. Additionally, companies can earn from in-game purchases. Companies who do not sign up for this new service will begin to suffer the consequences.
Because of their unwillingness to adapt, Electronic Arts, or EA, has had a lot of friction with their biggest titles.
Exclusive rights deals with the NFL, Star Wars, and FIFA have brought in a lot of money for EA. However, EA has lost exclusivity partnerships with Star Wars and FIFA, and their relationship with a large portion of the Madden NFL fan base has strained.
No one else could make a competitive video game in the same genre because of their exclusive rights. And EA could continue to charge exorbitant fees for what was essentially the same game year after year.
Now that free-to-play games are becoming popular, gamers are realizing that they may use their money to support businesses that are truly attempting to make a great game.
