At the very least, he has made matters worse. About 20 million barrels of oil are consumed daily in the US.
So many facets of our lives are powered by oil. It generates the heat, energy, and even the food we consume in our houses. But the Biden government has always been against oil.
For instance, the President increased fees for oil production, suspended new oil and gas leases on federal lands, and cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline.
These regulations are probably responsible for a daily loss of a million barrels of oil from our markets. Biden's decision to embargo Russian oil caused prices to rise significantly, regardless of whether you agree with the ethics of it or not. Of course, there are other circumstances that are not his responsibility, such as the conflict in Ukraine.
Additionally, Biden has criticized Saudi Arabia, one of the world's largest oil producers, who might significantly assist in lowering oil costs.
What can the president do to assist Americans who are dealing with high gas prices right now? There are actually several, but here are a few quick solutions.
First, he can cancel the ethanol mandate, which artificially increases gas prices.
Second, he could waive requirements to switch to summer gas blends, which increased gas prices by about 15 cents.
Third, he can overturn the ridiculous Jones Act, which makes it more expensive to ship local oil than oil from abroad.
Fourth, Biden can abolish the federal 18-cent-per-gallon gas tax and persuade other state governors to do the same. For instance, California charges a 58 cent state tax on top of the federal tax on a gallon of gasoline.
Finally, Biden must understand that the fossil fuel business cannot be viewed as an opponent. It will take decades to shift to a solar-powered, green economy, despite the progressives' best efforts.
