YouTube Description
as posted by the channelShould you build a house instead of buying an existing one? Well, if you live in California, Colorado, Utah, or around DC and Hawaii, it could be a lot cheaper to build instead of buying a used house. That's according to a study by Storage Café.
Of course, prices have surged for construction, and there are still serious supply chain issues. Also, finding empty lots in places that are actually livable is surprisingly challenging. But let's say you already have a lot, and you're ready to go?
You can save more than half a million dollars in Hawaii, 200k in California, and around 100k in Colorado, Utah and around DC.
Still, building a house is a major pain in the derrière. Expect it to take twice as long and cost a lot more than you originally anticipated. But building your home is exciting. It's on my wish list and apparently will save me a lot of money.
