33:36Now PlayingGovernor Mark Dayton today released two transportation funding options, both of which attempt to raise $6 billion dollars over 10 years for roads and bridges and another $2.8 billion dollars over 10 years for transit.
While both proposals would use $200 million dollars per year from the General Fund, the differences begin with one proposal imposing a 5 cents per gallon gas tax increase to raise $150 million dollars. The second proposal does not raise gas taxes but imposes higher vehicle tabs to garner $400 million dollars per year rather than the $250 million dollars set in the proposal containing the gas tax increase.
Both proposals also raise the metro area sales tax by one-half cent to fund transit projects in the metro area.
