6:42Now PlayingIs this the end of Roe v. Wade? We’re certainly not holding our breath that an illegitimate Supreme Court stacked with appointees appointed by deeply evil men who routinely lost the popular vote will keep defending it. But on a state level Roe is already being trampled.
Earlier this month, a Texas doctor published an op-ed where he admitted to violating the recently upheld anti-abortion law passed in Texas. As a reminder, the law that was passed by the Texas assembly and signed by Governor Abbot would award anyone who reported a women for having an abortion after 6 weeks (when it’s almost impossible to know that you’re pregnant) with $10,000. In this op-ed, the doctor wrote that he acted “because I had a duty of care to this patient, and because she has a fundamental right to receive this care.”
Almost immediately, multiple randos from different states (neither in Texas) filed lawsuits against the doctor. One of the suits was filed by a man who is currently serving a 15-year sentence for tax fraud, who sued under the belief that he would be entitled to the $10,000 the Texas legislature pinky promised they’d give to the whistleblower. Another one of the plaintiffs sued under the impression that it would ultimately lead to the striking down of this manifestly unconstitutional law because… reasons? Either way it’s clear both are in it for the cash.
