Francesca shares her experience with being pregnant during this insane time. It does, but not in the ways that you might expect (or in ways that I expected). Getting pregnant has only reconfirmed how essential it is that folks be given the choice as to whether or not they’re able or willing to do this. Nothing about our society is set up to make it easier to have children (healthcare costs, diapers, day care), so this cannot be a choice that someone else makes for us.
Beyond these simple and practical considerations, let’s not forget that abortions are also healthcare. When pregnant, there’s plenty of things that could go wrong. One could have an ectopic pregnancy, a fatal defect in the fetus, or any number of possible complications for which the only treatment is an abortion.
The SCOTUS ruling not only condemns millions of mothers and children to poverty and deprivation, it also makes those who are pregnant or will be pregnant, YES BY CHOICE, far less safe..
