Who even is going to vote first 2024?
Only a few weeks out from the primaries it still feels like no one even knows. Over a year ago, Iowa surrendered their precious Democratic caucus, who traditionally cast their votes first in the election cycle. This came after several blunders in a row (remember the coin toss or the app debacle?) and calls for the first state to vote to be more diverse than Iowa.
While Republicans could care less and will continue to have Iowa weigh in first, Democrats called for South Carolina to begin primary season. After the caucuses, New Hampshire would be the first primary.
Apparently, New Hampshire was a bit offended by being cut in line by South Carolina. Just this past month, New Hampshire announced they would hold their presidential primary January 23rd, before the southern state, defying the national Democratic party. Because of that decision, Biden won’t even appear on the ballot in New Hampshire!
