11:03Now PlayingBill Cosby will be formally charged with felony sexual assault stemming from a 2004 case in which he is accused of assaulting Andrea Constand, who was an employee of Temple University Basketball at the time. Her accusations essentially mirror the more than 50 women who have come forward to allege sexual assault at the hands of Cosby. She says he drugged her with pills and wine before he attacked her. Constand is gay and was actually dating a woman at the time of the assault.
The case initially was thrown out by Montgomery County, as there was apparently not enough evidence at the time to move forward with prosecution. However, on the heels of more than 50+ women coming forward with similar stories over the summer, and in years prior, the District Attorney elect Kevin Steele has decided that there is now enough evidence to move forward. Although the original case was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount, there is still room to charge because no criminal procedure happened since any criminal action was avoided totally.
Wednesday's revelations come as a sigh of relief for many women who have been accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault over the past 40 to 50 years. Women from all walks of life and all financial levels. Beverly Johnson, who is a world-famous supermodel, said that Bill Cosby drugged and attacked her, although he was not able to rape her because she realized she was drugged and was able to fight back. Kenan Thompson of SNL said that Bill Cosby got weird with his mother when he brought her to NBC and labeled him a monster. Hannibal Buress was the one who initially brought the older allegations back to life, and may be the one to thank for the actual criminal cases coming forward.
Unfortunately for Bill Cosby, he is now 78 years old. So, he may actually die during the court proceedings or when he gets locked up if found guilty. Fortunately, for the women involved, they may now have vindication and peace of mind.
