We’ve got a great episode today, especially with our two guests, Gretchen Carlson and Masih Alinejad. Both are the perfect guests to bring on the show during Women’s History Month!
According to this week’s poll, 100% said that they have walked alone at night before and felt unsafe. The Sarah Everard murder in London this month, while she was walking home, has unleashed fury from women in the UK and around the world for the violence that women suffer. Sarah Everard was in an area of London typically seen as safe when she was murdered by a police officer who worked as a security guard for the US Embassy. In response, a large group of women held a Sarah Everard vigil in response to the brutal murder. In response to the vigil, police officers pulled women away from the vigil, handcuffed these women, and pinned them to the ground. Police said that this was their way of reinforcing lockdown policies.
To help us discuss what has happened in London, we brought on journalist and advocate Gretchen Carlson. Gretchen Carlson is the co-founder of Lift Our Voices, a nonprofit initiative dedicated to creating positive, systemic change in the American workplace through the eradication of nondisclosure agreements for toxic work issues and mandatory arbitration clauses.
Yesterday, Secretary of State Tony Blinken met with the Chinese Foreign Minister in Alaska in his first high-level world meeting since Biden took office. These Chinese said how they discussed how they can work together on economic recovery and climate change. They also asked Tony Blinken to reverse Trump’s economic policies towards China, like certain trade restrictions and sanctions.
