Considered to be the world’s first cryptocurrency, Bitcoin recently hit a major high recently where one Bitcoin was worth over $52,000 US dollars! Original investors from 2009 are most likely sitting on a gold mine.
Both the tech world and finance world love crypto and Bitcoin, and this has led to a huge spike. Recently, Elon Musk and his company Tesla bought $1.5 Billion dollars worth of Bitcoin with a lot of other buyers following his lead.
And Bitcoin is finding its way to irl in even more ways than one. The nation’s oldest bank, The Bank of New York Mellon, or BNY Mellon, is making the jump into cryptocurrency by allowing their clients to hold Bitcoin in their portfolios. And the city of Miami is considering paying municipal workers in Bitcoin and accepting Bitcoin as payment.
But does this mean that Bitcoin is the future? Even with big names like Jack Dorsey and Jay-Z on board, can we be too sure? After all, Bitcoin is very volatile, and fluctuates much more than normal currencies. And this can make it seem too risky for any investor.
And we would be remiss to mention how Bitcoin is oftentimes the form of currency for any online black market transactions. If the government decides to step in for any regulation, this would drop the prices of Bitcoin in an instant.
