In Alabama, employees of Amazon are trying to unionize. About 6,000 workers are voting in a historic ballot that could lead to the first Amazon union. At their peak in 1954, almost 35% of all US workers belonged to labor unions. That number is now around 12%. Amazon is currently campaigning for workers to reject unionizing a workplace with their campaign “Do It Without Dues”. In 2020, Amazon sales increased by over 100 Billion.
The Reddit group, r/wallstreetbets, gets involved with animal conservation. Recently, the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, or The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International, received $350,000 of donations in just six days with some donors named GameStop or GME.
LeBron James is officially part owner of the Boston Red Sox. He and his partner Maverick Carter are the first black men to be part of the Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Red Sox, the Liverpool Football Club, and other subsidiary companies. LeBron’s goal is to eventually own an NBA franchise.
