Happy Earth Day 2021 from us at Bold! To celebrate Earth Day and Earth Week we’re talking all things animal products and meat-free diets. In trying to find more ways to help the environment, climate experts recommend cutting back on eating animal products.
In fact, the world of lab meat, or slaughter-free meat, is becoming more realized than ever. And joining David Grasso and Philip Michael to talk about that is Eric Jenkusky, the Co-Founder and CEO of Matrix Meat.
What is cultivated meat? Is it beyond meat? Is it a plant-based meat?
Nope! There are two types of alternative meat out there. Those that are plant-based meats like beyond meat and impossible burger, and those that are cultivated meat like Memphis Meats. And cultivated meat is real meat, and not GMO. It is cells that are grown in a lab that form a solid piece of meat.
Cultivated meat is growing a muscle outside of the body, and therefore, it is slaughter-free meat.
Is this type of meat vegan friendly or vegetarian friendly? Well it depends. If the person is subscribed to veganism or vegetarianism because they don’t want to hurt animals, then this could be meat they could eat. This is meat that doesn’t come from animals.
Let’s make an environmental impact assessment. Will this help fight climate change? Yes! According to Eric Jenkusky, from a plain business perspective, the market of cattle grazing isn’t a sustainable business. But even more so there are many issues with both climate change and animal rights that are in the world of livestock and meats. In co-founding Matrix Meats, Eric wanted to make a change in the world of both climate change and animal rights.
