Vaccines 101 From A Frontline Worker: What YOU Need To Know! | Bold In The Know

We’ve been in lockdown in America for over a year now, and the vaccination numbers in the country are getting better! On top of that, the White House is saying that more than a quarter of all adults are fully vaccinated. Also, President Biden and the Biden Administration has broadened the vaccine eligibility for adults.

Joining Shay to discuss more on the vaccine is Dr. James Simmons, a frontline worker based in California. He also talks more about the vaccines available, and the vaccine side effects that you should expect.

Should we be traveling right now? According to Dr. James Simmons, we should look at the science first. If you’re fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine, which in the case of the Pfizer vaccine is two weeks after your second vaccination, the likelihood of you spreading the virus to other people is very low. For travel, when you’re fully vaccinated? In giving his expert opinion, Dr. James Simmons says it’s hard to say. Yes, the CDC says you can travel if you’ve been fully vaccinated however there are other variants out there, like the B117 variant which is the current dominant variant in the United States. So we still need to make sure we’re taking proper precautions.

Dr. James Simmons says that he’s heard vaccine misconceptions for a long time now and almost any of the vaccine misconceptions that you can think of. But what is the most common one he’s heard? Was the vaccine developed too quickly? According to Dr. Simmons, he thinks people are in the right to ask questions, but to ease people’s minds there’s two big moments in technology that happened. The mRNA technology, what’s used in the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, isn’t new and has been used for a while, as far back as 2014 for instance. Also, this is a global pandemic, and so the amount of scientists and resources put into this was on a global scale. When you have abundant resources, you will find results faster.
