In 2020, there was an estimated $37 billion in damage following hurricane season. It looks worse for 2021. In 2021, the forecasts say the costs from hurricane damages may be at least $31 billion.

While you may think your insurance covers hurricane damages, many people who live in states where hurricanes are regular, do not get coverage for all of their costs. You will be paying out of pocket for your blown off deck and mudslides caused by the storm.

There are not many hurricane specific policies. Investing in flood and wind packages are the best choice for full coverage against the hurricane season.

Here are some tips if you want to protect your home or rental from any hurricane damage: look into taking out an additional policy and read the fine print of your policies closely to see which things you will be paying for out of pocket.

What policies do you think are important to purchase in preparation for future hurricanes? Let us know in the comments below!
