According to Mondelez, Oreo cookies, Ritz crackers, and sour patch kids are seeing the effects of inflation and will continue to see a price increase yearly. Mondelez expects to raise its prices by 7% in the US to combat rising inflation costs.
Inflation is the measure of rates and rising prices on goods and services. It happens when prices rise from higher production costs. In the case of the cookie and candy industry, the cost of production is rising from the lack of raw materials, transportation, and wages.
General Mills CEO Jeff Harmening says consumers could cut back on food spending if companies raise their prices too far.
