In August, a record 4.3 million people quit their jobs. That is almost 3% of all workers. This is because people are feeling more empowered than ever to leave a job they don’t like for any reason whether it’s for better pay, hours, benefits, and opportunities for growth.
There are over 10 million job openings across the country. So job seekers are enjoying the leverage they have right now. Of course, a lot of this has been spurred by the pandemic.
It seems that people who work in low-skilled jobs are quitting because they don’t want to be exposed to things like the Delta variant. Other jobs are offering bonuses for employees that will come and work for a period of time. So this could also be a reason as to why people are jumping from job to job.
It’s unclear if this trend will continue or will it stabilize? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
