Which is the party of the working class? Surprisingly, statistics show it's now Republicans. Not too long ago, Republicans were the party of the country club, and Democrats were the party of the factory and working-class America.

Now, it's totally reversed; better-educated, wealthier people are now more likely to be Democrats, and people without college degrees living in "flyover country" are more likely to be Republican.

And this dramatic realignment presents a unique opportunity for Republicans to pick up more middle-class voters, but it also presents an opportunity for Democrats to make further inroads with the well-heeled elite. Partisan politics are changing in America.

Look for more bizarre reversals between the parties as their identities evolve with the times.
