According to reports, this Delta strain is 50% more infectious than the Alpha variant. The new strain has also been found to be prominent in people who got infected post getting vaccinated. The Delta variant, or the B.1.617.2 strain, is said to have caused the deadly second wave according to studies. The World Health Organisation had earlier called the Delta variant, or the B.1.617 strain as a 'variant of concern'.
