Clay Travis: Mueller report analysis

On today’s Outkick the Show, Clay Travis discussed the essence of the Mueller report released Thursday, April 18, 2019. Clay started by displaying a flowchart, beginning with the election of President Donald Trump in 2016. Democrats were stunned and suddenly needed to figure out a rationale to explain why he won and Hillary Clinton lost. Donald Trump won, said Travis, by winning approximately 80k votes in PA, WI, and MI cast by people who simply trusted Trump over Clinton. Democrats decided to lay the blame on sexism, racism, which is “one billion percent not true,” and/or Russia. Rather than accepting the loss, the Democrats looked for excuses. While Russia tried to influence the election by buying a small amount of advertising on social media platforms, which, said Travis, is a pinprick when comparing advertising dollars spent by campaigns and corporations.

The results of the investigation were divided into two parts:

Part 1 : Did Trump conspire or collude with Russia?

No.

Part 2: Did Trump obstruct justice in the investigation?

Attorney General Barr has determined the president did not obstruct justice, but Mueller did not ultimately draw a conclusion.

According to Clay Travis, if the Democrats decide to impeach the president over anything in the report there is little to no chance that Trump will be removed from office. Odds are, said Travis, an impeachment will only benefit the president over the long haul and Trump will be re-elected in 2020.

Clay Travis went on to cover the Barr press conference on Thursday morning, remarking that Barr succinctly laid out the case. The media has leaked most of the findings in the report, said Travis, resulting in any so-called “punches” from the left not landing. Jake Tapper of CNN was particularly dense in his coverage of the press conference, according to Travis.

Clay Travis, who is an attorney, made it clear that a charge of obstruction of justice, when a crime has not been committed, is next to impossible to turn into a conviction. The report clearly communicates there was no crime committed, and, therefore, nothing was obstructed.

Finally, Clay Travis said Russia’s sole intention was to sew discord in our country. Mission accomplished, said Travis, thanks to a left-wing media too dumb to recognize no one else worked harder, and more persistently, to collude with their efforts to weaken our country more than they.

Lessons learned? We need more intelligent journalists and we need to be more discerning with what we believe to be true. Especially when our source is from a social media outlet.
