24:03Now PlayingNawaz Sharif is the only politician of Pakistan that has served the country for there non-consecutive terms. The first time he was elected as prime minister in 1990, then in 1997. During a coup in 1999, he was ousted from power and was exiled to Saudi Arabia. Then in 2007 he returned to Pakistan and participated in the 2008 General Election and formed a coalition government with Pakistan People Party (PPP). 18 August 2008 Musharraf resigned and on 8 April 2010, the 18th amendment was passed. During 2013 General Election PML(N) won the majority of the seats and Nawaz Sharif became a third-time prime minister.
His Third term was many times better than his previous two terms. His Social Policy includes Ban on Tablighi Jamat preaching in Educational institutions, provided a helpline to women, hanged Mumtaz Qadri, promised to punish very severely to the Perpetrator of Honor Killing. In March 2016 he also unblocked the access to YouTube. He allotted RS-500 million fund for the promotion of art and literature. In the Economic sphere, there was prosperity but debt continued to arise. Pakistan received bailout packages from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He negotiated free trade agreements with other countries. Inflation dropped from 25% in 2008 to 13% in 2014. He initiated Diamer-Bhasha Dam, Dasu Dam, Faisalabad_Khanewal M-4 motorway, Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus service, Lahore Karachi motorway. He also initiated $9.59 Billion worth Nuclear Power Complex in Karachi to produce 2200 MW energy. Proposal for the merger of FATA with KPK was given on March 2017. Sep 2013 he called for the talks with the Taliban. Formed National Security Council. In Dec 2014 there happened terrorist attacks at Peshawar school which killed 145 children. Due to this kind of terrorist activity, Karachi Operation was launched in Sep 2013. This operation reduced target killing to 80%. To eliminate terrorism in the country “Operation Zarb-e-Azb” was launched. In his third term, Nawaz Sharif enjoyed friendly relations with other countries. He signed an agreement worth $46 Billion with China. China is investing in Pakistan under the project China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Modi visited Pakistan but due to Kashmir Issue relations were not good. Sharif signed a trade agreement with Afghanistan worth $5 Billion. Nawaz Sharif visited the USA in 2013, and US released aid to Pakistan. Russian Defense Minister also visited Pakistan and Russia ended the embargo on the sale of a weapon to Pak.

From the very onset of the Sharif government, Imran Khan was against him. He along with Tahir Ul Qadri protested against him and demanded his resignation. In 2016 Imran did a long march to Islamabad. Supreme court formed a judicial commission to investigate Panama leaks in which the Nawaz Sharif was involved. Sharif’s assets were continuously increasing. At the end of 28 July 2017 Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified him from office for a lifetime.
