The Third Party Nobody Asked For

Would you vote for the Forward Party? If you’re a fan of the status quo and standing still, boy have we got the party for you. Billed as a vehicle for the electoral success of so-called “moderate” or “centrist” politicians, this new party definitely is in fact full of corporatists that already have a great home in the GOP or Democratic Party.

This new party is being spearheaded by “MATH” superstar Andrew Yang, who unsuccessfully ran for the Democratic Party ticket in the 2020 presidential primary on a platform primarily defined by advocating for Universal Basic Income (UBI). Yang is joined in the Forward Party by Christine Todd Whitman, who served as the Republican governor of New Jersey from 1994-2001.

So what is the centrist party platform? It’s vague. First off, they’re going to create a “flourishing economy,” which is a hell of a way to differentiate your party from the party of big business or from the party of billionaires. There’s plenty more, but it all boils down to one very obvious point: nothing differentiates this party from the centrist party we all know and love, the Democratic Party.
