4:55Now PlayingAfter spending literal years calling Democrats “pedophiles”, “tyrants”, “Islamists” and every other name they could think of, Republicans finally got a taste of their own medicine last week and they absolutely cannot handle it. Joe Biden delivered a very metal address where he laid plain, maybe even undersold, the national emergency that is the fascist takeover of the Republican Party under Donald Trump.
Joe Biden’s speech was incredibly sober, with very little embellishment, and he fell all over himself trying to pitch this national emergency to however many “normal” Republicans are left. Instead of taking the characterization as a gut check it actually was, right-wing politicians and media spent the rest of the week trying about how Joe Biden was very mean and hurt their feelings. Even Republicans who were marginally critical of Trump, like former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, exploded in fake outrage on behalf of Trump and everyone in his cult.
Leading democrats haven’t had enough courage to call a spade a spade for at least a decade now. So it’s a nice change of pace to see some honesty out of leadership.
