15:08Now PlayingLast week, Trump held a rally in Pennsylvania in support of fellow reality TV star Dr. Mehmet Oz, who is currently running for U.S. Senate in the state against Democrat John Fetterman. After Republicans spent the past week crying about Biden’s “Ultra MAGA” speech, Trump used this opportunity to call Biden an “enemy of the state,” among a bunch of other stuff.
Trump, as usual, didn’t stick to the script and didn’t talk too much about Dr. Oz, or Republican nominee for Pennsylvania Governor Doug Mastriano. Instead, he spent most of the speech railing against Biden, the FBI, and calling for the death penalty for people convicted of low level criminal acts. In some ways this speech was a return to form, in other ways it marks a darker and much more dangerous evolution of Donald Trump the candidate.
The Pennsylvania senate race will be crucial in the fight over control of the Senate as a whole. Currently, Fetterman seems to be on top, but we’ll see how things develop between now and November. Dr. Oz insists on an immediate debate while Fetterman is recovering from a stroke, and is now calling him a coward for not doing so. Classy stuff all around. I need to make a crudité.
