CNN’s Van Jones Heckled at Israel March For Calling For Peace

CNN analyst Van Jones got a reaction at the March for Israel he perhaps wasn’t expecting (but should’ve).

On Monday, thousands of Jews and allies demonstrated at the nation’s capital to march for the release of hostages held by Hamas and supposedly against anti-Semitism. The demonstration hosted a slate of speakers, including Jones, and an a cappella group singing for war! However, members of the protest made their message clear that it was not an anti-war protest.

“I pray for peace. No more rockets from Gaza, and no more bombs falling down on the people of Gaza,” said Jones. “Let’s end all the horror and all the heartbreak in the holy land. Let’s end all of it.” When Jones called for Israel to stop bombing Gaza and described himself as “a peace guy,” he was met with boos and heckling. The crowd then began chanting “no ceasefire” during his speech, alongside signs that read “let Israel finish the job.”

While many boarded private planes and buses to make their way to DC’s National Mall from across the country, the NY Post reported that about 300 Jewish people from Detroit headed to DC were stranded by bus drivers staging a sickout.

Let’s remember, however, that the Jewish community isn't a monolith. The same day, hundreds of people occupied Oakland’s federal building to ‘let Gaza live’ and Chicago Jews occupied the Israeli consulate to call for a ceasefire.
