In 2022, was there a recession? Yes, to answer briefly. In the first half of the year, the economy shrank.
Everyone is now debating what that implies. Avoid paying attention to politicians. It's true that there is a recession right now, but what's strange about it is how mild it is and how consumer spending is still rising.
Democrats and Republicans are utilizing the strange economic situation for their own party talking points.
But thus far, the recession has been essentially meaningless.
The economy is still obviously dysfunctional in the end. However. Not all the news is terrible; there is still a low unemployment rate and plenty of money around.
However, inflation is currently at an all-time high. Interest rates are rising, home prices are falling, and stocks and cryptocurrencies have already experienced a crash.
So what comes next? No one is aware of the answer. Although economics is not an exact science, it is safe to assume that more bad news is likely to follow.
The US has a promising economic outlook in the long run. But for now, strap in. We are in for a wild ride.
