Potential Issues With Using Wind And Solar Energy

It's frequently claimed that renewable energy sources like wind and solar, together with a little Greta Thunberg magic fairy dust, can entirely replace fossil fuels.

But is it actually the case? The consequences have been terrible in the places that have attempted it thus far.

For instance, costs have increased five times faster than the rest of the nation or by 100% in California, which leads the U.S. in the use of wind and solar energy.

And more blackouts occur in the Golden State than everywhere else in the nation. So how is this possible?

The reason why wind and solar can't meet our needs and give us affordable, dependable energy is because they have a few serious flaws.

They are first of all unreliable.

Naturally, when the wind blows and the sun shines, you can generate wind and solar energy. But given that we constantly require energy, that only occurs between 10% and 40% of the time.

What do you do now? Batteries, according to Green New Deal supporters, are the solution.

It is claimed that batteries can be used to store solar and wind energy so that it can be used even when there is no wind or sun. But that won't take place any time soon.

You see, it will cost nearly $400 trillion to store the world's energy for three days using the finest batteries we now have.

The global GDP is $87 trillion for context.

And if you are truly concerned about the environment, you can't possible support these batteries because producing them will need the globe to increase mining and refining of several elements, including cobalt, lithium, copper, and nickel, by thousands of percent.

Millions of tons of Earth would have to be moved, natural habitats would have to be destroyed, and we would be at the mercy of some of the world's most anti-environmental, human rights abusing countries, such as China, Russia, and the Congo.

But that's only part of the story.

The other major issue with solar and wind energy is that it is diluted, therefore a lot of area is required.

In fact, to produce the same amount of energy, wind and solar projects need 300–400 times more land than nuclear or natural gas installations.

Thus, it will be necessary to eliminate large regions of wildlife, alter ecosystems, and build turbines that annually kill millions of birds, including the most vulnerable species like hawks, eagles, and owls.

In addition to all of that, building using solar and wind energy has significant environmental expenses.

Thousands of tons of steel, Thousands of tons of concrete, and Thousands of pounds of non-recyclable plastics are needed to construct a wind farm.

More cement, steel, and other minerals must be mined in order to support solar farms.

Of course, there is also the issue of disposal.

Batteries, solar panels, and wind turbines all have a limited lifespan. What will you do with millions of pounds of excess waste that is harmful to both people and animals?
