as posted by the channelRepublicans have given up the game: they’re going to overturn Roe v Wade, and re-open the floodgates of horror that Roe kept closed for almost 50 years. What about Democrats, the supposedly pro-choice party that happily accepts anti-abortion members? What are they going to do about it since they have control over the House, Senate, and Presidency?
When asked about whether or not he would support the removal of the filibuster, which is the ONLY way for life saving abortion legislation to pass, Joe Biden demurred. Senate Democrats did indeed vote to protect Roe, but Manchin (and “pro-women” resistance icons Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins) voted against it. Predictable and enraging.
Democrats have seen this coming for 50 years, but are apparently as unprepared for this Republican victory as they were 50 years ago. There is no strategy to expand the court and try to regain America's trust in this supposedly neutral arbitrator turned vengeful partisan. There are also no tactics of resistance or protest that Democrats would also appreciate. In fact, elite Democrats seem to enjoy spending much of their time disciplining their own voters and discouraging them from making their voice heard.
