It seems like many Americans are deluding themselves into thinking that what the world is witnessing is somehow not a massive ethnic cleansing and perhaps even genocide. Especially when Israeli officials themselves are admitting it. Israeli army spokespeople and leaders have been very open about being open to indiscriminately targeting civilians in an attempt to punish Hamas.
“Unfortunately in our efforts to secure...Israel, it is indeed the people of Gaza that are paying the price for their poor leadership,” said a spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces. That price looks like dropping bombs on residential areas and killing thousands of children.
Similarly, Israeli soldier Betzalel Taljah told CNN that "the war is not just with Hamas, the war [is] with all the civilians." The Israeli president himself even said 'It is not true this rhetoric about civilians were not aware, were not involved, it’s absolutely not true. They could have risen up against that evil regime that took over Gaza in a coup d'état.”
They are saying all of this knowing that nearly half of Gaza’s 2.2 million population that’s being targeted, are children. When is enough enough when it comes to the number of dead sought in retribution for Hamas’ crimes?
