Happy International Women’s Day! To celebrate, we’re highlighting an entrepreneur with an amazing story of a true testament to the power of perseverance, Trishonna, the Co-Founder of Mixins Rolled Ice Cream.
Chapters:
Why did you decide to start an ice cream business? Trishonna says she has always been self-employed and came across rolled ice cream on Instagram in 2015-2016. From there she realized that this was an excellent business idea. She joked about bringing a rolled ice cream store with a friend to her home in Nebraska, and the rest is history.
How did you make your idea into a reality? Trishonna says that they didn’t have an understanding of the steps to start a business, just the spirit of an entrepreneur. So they started looking for a building. Then they realized that they didn’t have the money! So from there they realized they needed to make a business plan, and just write out all of their ideas. From there they shopped their idea to micro lenders and angel investors to see where their idea could go.
How did you find your investors? Google University! Trishonna states that she just googled “how to get a business loan” to start. From there she learned what a micro lender was, and then googled to figure out how to get a micro lender.
As for competitors? Trishonna says that ice cream is a billion dollar industry so she isn’t worried about competition. She says it’s not a matter of competitors, it's a matter of knowing what you bring to the table, and how you’re going to deliver that message to your audience.
