It has been a pretty cringy past few weeks, but what was the most cringe? The nominee’s for the past week’s cringiest moments in politics were the following:
On an episode of “Real America” with Dan Ball, a far right political talk show, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene accused House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi of leading the “gazpacho police.” Comparing Democrats with Nazi Germany has been a common tactic for the Congresswoman, and this time she somehow outdid her previous stupidity.
Last week we also saw a video of noted transphobic comedian Dave Chapelle speaking at a Yellow Spring Ohio’s board meeting, where he threatened to pull all his money out from the town if affordable housing units were built.
Finally, we had Joe Biden trying and failing to say “Afghanistan”. When talking about U.S. military occupation, Biden first said Ukraine, then said Iraq, and finally said Afghanistan, which is the country he was trying to say the whole time. President Biden sometimes has these types of flubs, but confusing one dumb American military misadventure with another, and then another, is a perfect encapsulation of American empire.
