Our host Julia Sun sits down with Dean Mahoney, CEO & Co-Founder of ‘Merican Mule, to talk about his business pivot from the tech world to canned cocktails, and how an entrepreneurial mindset set him for success.
Julia wants to know why it took so long for the market to take this long to come up with canned cocktails, as they’re such a success! Mahoney agrees, and it’s the fact that this didn’t exist yet that partially stirred Mahoney into entering the beverage market in the first place.
According to Mahoney, back in 2015 Mahoney and his friends first discovered the Moscow Mule cocktail for themselves, and really took a liking to it. It then led to them visiting different bars and trying out different Moscow Mules. He really wanted to see different takes on the Moscow Mule and that only furthered his passion towards Moscow Mules.
And with examining how the craft beer industry was booming with new ideas on different quality ingredients and takes on classic recipes, why not do that but with the Moscow Mule? There would be a higher price point, but with the quality of spirits and ingredients that they demanded, it would be worth it. And that is when ‘Merican Mule was born.
